Worldwide, Lions Clubs each year donate $450 million to charitable causes and its members volunteer 76 million hours – the equivalent of 36,500 full time jobs.

Vancouver South Lions Club Mission Statement:

"The Vancouver South Lions Club is a community service organization that supports, through the allocation of financial or human resources, the objectives of Lions Clubs International and most importantly the residents of the Vancouver south community." Its primary value philosophies are community service and fellowship.

Since its charter in 1944, the Vancouver South Lions have donated an estimated $2 million (in current dollars) to charities, Not for Profit Organizations (NPO’s) and individuals needing financial support. It was instrumental in the paving of Fraser Street and the development of the original Sunset Community Centre. The legendary Bing Crosby also helped raise over $26,000 for the Sunset Community Centre in 1948 when he came to Vancouver and staged his radio show on September 21, 1948 (Bing's radio show was the most listened to show in North America). Currently, the Club operates (with the BC Paraplegic Association) Lions Millennium Place, a 39 unit apartment building for low income families and people with physical disabilities. In addition, the Club operates (with the Marpole Lions Club) Argyle Manor, a 22 unit apartment building for low income seniors.

As a member of Lions Clubs International, the Vancouver South Lions Club is also committed to supporting LCI programs, including contributions to the LCI Foundation (which enables Lions to tackle global problems such as blindness and hearing loss and to respond to major catastrophes such as earthquakes and floods) and to Lions Canada Foundation (which trains Dog Guides for Canadians who are blind or visually impaired or with hearing and other medically and physically limiting disabilities).

Vancouver South Lions Club's major fund raising project is the Christmas tree lot which the Club has operated every December for more than 35 years. The Christmas tree lot is located at John Oliver High School at the corner of 41st and Fraser in Vancouver. Your support of this project is very much appreciated.
